-- Actor/Racer to Drive Famed Mazda 787B in Pre-Race Activities --

June 3, 2011 (Irvine, Calif.)   Twenty years ago this month, Mazda became the first - and to date, the only - Japanese automaker to score an overall win at the world's most famous endurance race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.  Endurance road-racing has been the cornerstone of Mazda's participation in motorsports since 1968, as it is the ultimate demonstration of quality, durability and reliability.

Mazda and Ford have long participated in a joint-venture at the Auto Alliance International facility located in Flat Rock, Michigan. Mazda presently uses the facility to produce the Mazda6, while Ford pumps out the Mustang. We heard rumblings that Mazda was looking to pull out of the partnership, and now those rumors have a bit more teeth. Mazda has announced that its next mid-size sedan will be produced at the Hofu plant in Japan.

Currently, the Mazda6 (also known as the Atenza) is built at AAI, Hofu and at China's FAW Car Co. Mazda is going to continue to build the current Mazda6 at those three locations. Production of the next-generation car will be transferred from AAI to Hofu.

Importantly, Mazda they are examining other opportunities with Ford, so as to continue participating in the joint venture at AAI.

Old muscle car versus new muscle car
Old muscle versus new muscle - Click above to watch the video after the break

All day long, boys. All. Day. Long.

To what are we referring, you ask? Well, that's how long all six muscle cars rounded up by the staff at Motor Trend will eviscerate their tires. Such is the nature of the beast, and, in fact, it's why many automotive enthusiasts just can't get enough horsepower at the rear wheels.

What we have here are Camaros, Challengers and Mustangs, gathered in pairs - one vintage example from the height of the muscle car's reign of terror in 1969 and '70 along with one 2011 model. This begs the question: Which era of American performance resulted in the better car?

Well now, that depends on just what you're looking for...

There's simply no arguing the fact that the 2011 Camaro SS, Challenger SRT8 392 and Shelby Mustang GT500 can accelerate (though the quarter-mile results would be closer if the old bias-ply tires were replaced with something more... modern), turn and stop better than their old-timer predecessors.

But, as the editors of Motor Trend found out, that's not the whole story. Check out the video after the break to find out what we're on about.

One last thing: Words cannot express how badly we want the keys to that 1970 Challenger. It's nothing short of muscle car perfection.

1978 Ford Pinto

There's a car club out there for everyone. Case in point: Ford Pinto enthusiasts have embarked on a journey across a large portion of the country. In all, 24 Pintos are making the 1,600-mile trek from Denver, Colorado to the Ford Nationals in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. By the time the group arrives in PA, a few more Pinto fans will join the unique train of cars, bringing the total number of vehicles up to 32.

Along the way, the Ford Pintos are making a few pit stops. For instance, the group already dropped by Kansas Speedway, where drivers pushed their Pintos as high as 95 miles per hour. If that last sentence doesn't sound frightening, you're braver than we are.

Dear Billy,
Our PC has been down, and we are just getting back on line. We just want you to know how much we are enjoying our new Fusion. We were impressed with the internet sales department., and the people who work in this department.  We were treated with great courtesy.  Looking forward to having you help us connect our cell phone, bluetooth.  We will call you when we find we can come over for…

I want to thank everyone at Gary Yeoman's Ford for the great buying experience I had when purchasing my used 2005 Chevy SSR. Your team of professionals is second to none. I personally want to thank Troy manager of Internet sales and the General Manager Carlos. I had an issue with the car that was not covered by the 30day/1000 mile and they stepped up to the plate and the issue was resolved?
