Angles and Attitude.
With chiseled good looks from
every
angle, the new Taurus appears more aggressive and assertive than ever.
Sharp, clean lines accentuate the new hood design, drawing your eye to
the bold new grille. You can sense immediately from the design of a
great car what you're about to experience at the wheel. The new Ford
Taurus.
Wide and Assertive
Stance
Ford engineers have given the new Taurus a
wide stance and refined the suspension tuning, delivering
stable, confident handling on the corner.
Unique SHO Seats
The choice is yours in
the high-performance Taurus SHO: leather-trimmed seats in
Charcoal Black with Mayan Grey Miko® suede inserts (shown) or in
Charcoal Black with embroidered SHO logo on the front seats.
This year, the thigh support cushion is extended and the
bolster contour upgraded for added comfort. The soy-based seat
cushions, seat backs and the 4-way adjustable (up/down/tilt) headrests
are supportive and comfortable as well as environmentally
friendly.
Wheel Lineup
The new
Taurus has a wider, lower and more aggressive appearance than before,
thanks in part to a new set of wheels. Two 20" options are now
available, including 20" machined aluminum wheels with black
painted pock
ets on SHO and 20" polished
aluminum wheels on Limited. SHO and Limited both come standard
with 19" premium painted aluminum wheels. 18" painted
aluminum wheels come standard on SEL, while 17" painted
aluminum are standard on SE.
The
Power of Advanced Technology.
Advanced Ford
powertrain technology comes in not two, but three Taurus engine choices
for 2013. The new 2.0L EcoBoost® option delivers high 4-cylinder fuel
efficiency* while generating V6 power. The standard 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 is
now equipped with the performance and efficiency benefits of direct
injection and twin-independent variable camshaft timing. And there's the
Taurus SHO with its 3.5L EcoBoost engine and unique sport-tuned
suspension system ? an exhilarating experience for the driving
enthusiast who craves V8 power but desires V6 economy.** Advanced
engineering also improves steering and braking to make Taurus agile and
easy to control.
3.5L Ti-VCT and 3.5L EcoBoost®
Engines
The 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 features advancements
in technology to deliver excellent performance as well as a 29 mpg
highway fuel economy rating.* The direct injection system not only
injects precise amounts of fuel into each cylinder, but also produces a
cooler, denser charge that generates optimum power per every drop of
fuel. Twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) controls when
the valves open and close to improve overall performance. Ti-VCT also
enables variable valve overlap for improved fuel
economy.
Taurus SHO is powered by the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6. EcoBoost combines two different technologies ? turbocharging and direct-injection ? to deliver V8 performance along with excellent fuel economy.** It generates 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque across a wide 1,500-5,000 rpm range.
All-Wheel
Drive
Available Intelligent AWD uses sensors to
constantly monitor traction. It balances torque between the
front and rear wheels to enhance handling and maximize traction,
typically before wheel slip can even occur. AWD is standard on Taurus
SHO; optional on SEL and Limited; and not available with the 2.0L
EcoBoost® engine.
Evolution in driving
intelligence.
SYNC® with MyFord Touch®* lets you
customize systems like climate controls and available
voice-activated Navigation System, your mobile phone and music library
in a way you've never before experienced. BLIS® (Blind Spot
Information System) with cross-traffic alert* lets you know
when a vehicle is in your blind spot or is approaching when you're
slowly backing out of a parking space. Adaptive cruise
control* automatically slows your Taurus when traffic ahead
slows down. And there's active park assist* that takes the dread out
of parallel parking. Innovative Ford technology. Making life
on the road easier.
Adaptive Cruise
Control
Available adaptive cruise control (ACC)
functions just like normal cruise control, but with one
exception: When the system is activated and its sensors detect traffic
slowing ahead, your vehicle automatically slows to maintain
the distance you've set. And when traffic has cleared, your
vehicle resumes at the preset speed. Collision warning with brake
support (included with ACC) can alert you if it senses a
potential collision with the car in front of you. A heads-up
display, which simulates brake lights, flashes on the windshield.
If you don't react in time, the brakes will precharge and
increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full
responsiveness when you brake. Adaptive cruise control and collision
warning with brake support are optional on Taurus Limited and
SHO models.
Whatever it takes to be world-class
What
does it take to create an interior with outstanding craftsmanship? It's
having an obsessive attention to the generous level of amenities you
expect, as well as an exceptional level of quality. It's going the extra
mile ? and beyond whenever possible ? to exceed your expectations. This
is the price of admission to producing a premium-class car. Now step
inside the new 2013 Ford Taurus.
Quality and
Craftsmanship
No detail has gone unnoticed, or
untouched, in the interior design of the new Taurus. Craftsmanship is
evident in the use of soft-touch, high-quality materials throughout the
cabin, with especially noticeable improvements such as the cloth-wrapped
front, center and rear pillars. Even the inside of the luggage
compartment is completely trimmed. And for that sense of quiet comfort,
every Taurus model comes with an upgraded sound insulation package that
helps keep unwanted noise out, so you can fully enjoy the pleasant
sounds you want to
hear.
